Katy Mallory, co-founder of SlumberPod®, brings over a decade of experience in corporate communications and sales operations, along with firsthand insight from being the oldest of 15 children and a mother of three. Co-founder Lou Childs complements this with more than 25 years of marketing and communications expertise, as well as her experience as a mother of six, bonus mother to three, and grandmother to 16. Together, drawing on both professional knowledge and real-life family dynamics, they created a brand rooted in practical solutions for modern parenting.
The idea for SlumberPod® was born in 2014 after a challenging family trip where sharing a room disrupted their baby’s sleep—highlighting a common travel struggle for parents. Unable to find a safe, portable solution, Katy and Lou set out to create one themselves. In 2016, they launched SlumberPod®, offering families a simple, effective way to maintain sleep routines on the go. Their innovation gained national attention in January 2020 on Shark Tank, where they secured a deal with Barbara Corcoran, helping accelerate the brand’s growth and impact.
